TEACHER LEADER
MS. SALLY NOLTEMEYER
Mrs. Sally Noltemeyer, an education professional in university and public educational settings, co-manages the Gifted Education program at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas. The school was named to the U.S. News & World Report's best high schools list and is part of Blue Valley School District, ranked No. 50 on Niche’s 2019 Best School Districts in America list and No. 1 in the state of Kansas.
Prior to finding her calling in gifted education, Noltemeyer taught A.P. literature, college composition, and honors English at Woodland Park High School in Colorado and seventh- through twelfth-grade English in Weston, Colorado. She burnished her teaching credentials as an adjunct composition and literature professor at Pikes Peak Community College and a graduate teaching assistant at Colorado State University.
Noltemeyer earned a bachelor’s degree in Humanities from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and expanded her knowledge base towards a career in education with a master’s degree in English Education from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. As well, she completed a gifted education program through Emporia State University based in Emporia, Kansas, and yoga teacher training at a studio in Colorado.
“Nolte,” as she’s known to students, has an active family life from her home base in Olathe, Kansas. Her husband, Matt, is a career journalist working as an agribusiness editor with Sosland Publishing Company in Kansas City and her three sprightly daughters attend schools in Overland Park and Olathe. She also has a fluffy black cat called Marla Singer.
